Výrobce hliníku EGA spojuje své síly s partnery, aby podpořil solární energii ve Spojených arabských emirátech

Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) spolupracuje s Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (Taqa), Emirates Water and Electricity Company (Ewec) a Dubal Holding na rozvoji větší kapacity pro výrobu solární energie v SAE a provádění výzkumu výroby hliníku. Dekarbonizace.
The partnership, pending approval, will help EGA achieve net-zero emissions by 2050 and support Ewec's strategy to develop more renewable energy projects, Ewec said on Wednesday. It will also boost the production of solar-powered aluminium.
The four companies are planning a deal under which Taka and Dubar Holding will acquire EGA's power generation assets in the UAE, including a 6.47 GW primary combined cycle gas-fired power plant, which will generate electricity based on long-term purchases Agreement (PPA) for supply to the grid.
EGA will draw power from the grid through a long-term supply agreement that will make it the largest single user on the grid, creating predictable and stable electricity demand. The initiative will increase the share of clean energy in EGA's aluminium production, as it will allow it to use existing solar power plants.
The partnership with EGA will allow Ewec to develop more solar power generation capacity in the Gulf state. Projects resulting from the initiative are expected to output more than the country's current total installed solar capacity.
Ewec has overseen the development of two of the largest solar PV projects in the world - the Noor Abu Dhabi and Dhafra PV projects in the UAE. Taka and Abu Dhabi-based renewable energy company Masdar holds a 60 percent stake in Abu Dhabi's 2 gigawatt Al Zafra solar photovoltaic project, in which Ewec will undertake power supply.
EGA CEO Abdul Nasser bin Karban said: "Today, we are taking another historic step towards achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. We also pledge that in the coming decades, , EGA's global competitiveness will be strengthened as not only the world's largest producer of 'premium aluminium' but also one of its most environmentally responsible producers."
EGA, společně vlastněná Mubadala Investment Company z Abu Dhabi a Investment Corporation of Dubai, provozuje hliník v Jebel Ali a Al Taweelah Huť provozuje rafinerii oxidu hlinitého v Al Taweelah a důl na bauxit v Guineji. V roce 2021 společnost prodala 2,54 milionu tun litého kovu.
